After years of serving the geek community through the FanFilm Awards, Azure Lorica has passed down its flagship event onto the Los Angeles Anti-Bully Society. Though a branch of Azure Lorica, the society operates more as Press, and will be publishing their magazine quarterly with interviews and works of art from filmmakers and writers alike. This new start allows FanFilm Awards to operate amongst its members, while promoting the niche cause of anti-bullying.
Azure Lorica FanFilm Awards had the nonprofit Board in charge of the festival, and gave it its meat and bones. But as time went on, the programs grew, and there needed to be more leg room for the film festival we all enjoyed and loved.
The Los Angeles Anti-Bully Society FanFilm Awards, or the Los Angeles FanFilm Awards for short, will premiere as a ceremony at the LOOK Dine-In Cinema, to celebrate the wonderful filmmakers that have made this momentous event what it is today. Operating independently from the theatre company that is Azure Lorica, this fandom society will bring a centralized attention to the filmmakers, and build the community it deserves.
But, while the community is still in bloom, we wish to thank everyone, from the bottom of our hearts, for your brilliant support in Azure Lorica. We now have a greater cause, thanks to you - supporting multi-ethnicity in media (read more) - and we hope that this honor to the fanfilm community will allow you all to succeed in your craft!
So, cheers to the screenwriters and actors! Chin-chin to the filmmakers and their backers! Our volunteers and staff couldn't have been prouder to the honor you've brought to our screens. Azure Lorica was able to serve its libraries and community centers with your work, and children and adults alike were able to share their love of fandom and give back to their community through your works. Please enjoy the theatre and red carpet. We chose a brand new theatre just for you.
